About HOBB
House of Beloved Brands (HOBB™) is building the operating system for one of the fastest-growing segments in U.S. retail: multicultural food commerce.
We transform fragmented diaspora demand into:
• Measurable transaction data
• Reliable distribution infrastructure
• Scalable growth capital for global food brands
Our platform supports emerging and established food & beverage brands from Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, and Asia entering and scaling in the U.S. market.
The role
As Head of Logistics, you will design and own the freight consolidation model from first principles — carrier contracts, regional distribution strategy, retailer co-op ordering schedules, and the operational playbook that makes HOBB's unit economics work. You are not inheriting a system. You are building it.
You will have direct influence on the company's strategy, pricing model, and geographic expansion. Logistics is not a back-office function at HOBB — it is the product.
What you will own
Freight strategy & carrier relationships
- Negotiate contracts with LTL, FTL, and last-mile carriers (UPS Freight, XPO, Estes, regional operators)
- Design the freight consolidation model — how HOBB aggregates retailer orders into shipment cohorts
- Identify and evaluate regional distribution center locations (initially NYC/Boston corridor)
- Build and manage carrier performance metrics and SLA frameworks
Retailer operations
- Design the retailer co-op ordering schedule and cohort formation logic
- Set last-mile delivery standards and retailer SLAs
- Build the onboarding process for new retailer accounts
- Work directly with the Retail Partnerships team to translate retailer needs into logistics requirements
Pricing & financial model
- Partner with Finance to build the blended freight pricing model
- Model cost reduction scenarios across consolidation strategies
- Own the logistics P&L and optimize for margin as volume scales
Team & systems
- Define and eventually hire the logistics coordinator and warehouse staff as we scale
- Work with Engineering to scope the operational requirements for the ordering and freight platform
- Build relationships with importers and wholesale suppliers to align on shipment timing
What we are looking for
Must-have experience
- 5+ years in freight logistics, supply chain, or distribution — you have run this, not just managed it
- Hands-on carrier negotiation experience — you have signed contracts and know how to get favorable rates
- Experience with freight consolidation, 3PL operations, or co-op distribution models
- Comfort with food, grocery, or CPG logistics — spoilage windows, pallet standards, cold chain basics
- Strong financial instincts — you understand cost-per-unit, load efficiency, and margin math
Strongly preferred
- Experience working with or for ethnic food importers, specialty distributors, or international grocery
- Existing carrier and 3PL relationships in the Northeast (NY, NJ, MA)
- Early-stage or startup experience — you know how to build when there is no playbook
- Multilingual a plus — Creole, Hindi, Spanish, Yoruba, or other languages spoken in our retail communities
Who you are
- You are a builder, not a manager of inherited systems
- You are comfortable making decisions with incomplete information and iterating fast
- You have genuine interest in the ethnic retail community HOBB serves
What we offer
- Founding team equity at 3–5%, vesting over 4 years with a 1-year cliff
- $130,000 – $160,000 base salary, benchmarked to Series A-stage market rates
- Full ownership of logistics strategy with a direct line to the CEO
- The chance to build infrastructure that meaningfully reduces costs for thousands of immigrant-owned small businesses
- Flexible remote work with travel to key distribution corridors
